Drawing can be the medium of expressing the feelings and conveying the emotions. Some people take it as a hobby which they cannot live without.

Whatever may be the reason, it is always essential to invest in the drawing supplies which will last longer and bring the best in the drawings.

If one is planning to take the drawing as a serious part-time or profession it is advisable to start investing in the different supplies of drawing other than on good pencils.

The paper is one of the basic supplies used by the drawing artists. There are various types of drawing paper available in the market.

There are many variations in the quality, size, texture and color, hue and strength and absorption capacity.

The papers range from the low-grade newspaper quality use for the practice to the higher priced ones with good quality. Drawing artist prefer the smooth paper for representing the fine details.

The rough papers though are ideal for sticking the color better. The more courser papers are the ideal it is for creating deeper contrast.

The Bristol board which normally has smooth finish can also be used for ink and finely detailed drawing using the graphite.

The papers which are acid-free can retain the color and the texture of the paintings for longer periods than the paper which has wood pulp such as the newsprint which turns yellowish sooner.

The drawing artists also use other different tools in their drawing process. These are the erasers, pencils sharpeners, sandpaper, chamois leather, and blending pallets.

The other tools which are also used in certain artwork are scales, blotting paper, fixative, drawing tape, and circle compass.

The use of the slating table and easel can be very useful to minimize the distortion when creating a Perspective Drawing.

Contemporary drawing artists have started using the computer as the medium to portray their skills’ world over.
